About

At the end of the day, this blog is really just a collection of crafts and stories about crafting.  However, I’m told (or I read somewhere) that one of the keys to successful blogging is telling one’s audience a bit about the girl (or man or woman or family or dog or cat or… well, you get the general idea) behind the blog… so I figured I write here just often enough to tell some curious person a little bit about me.

The problem with that, for me, is that I’m shy, and I don’t really know how to encapsulate myself in text.

But, for anyone who’d really like to know… My name is Elizabeth, but I go by Liz except in very formal situations.  I’m  married to a wonderful, wonderful guy who’s incredibly supportive of my yarn stashing habit yarn addiction interest in collecting beautiful hand-dyed yarns.  This is part of why he gets described as wonderful twice in a row.  We met when a good friend of mine married a good friend of his and my friend meddled.  Normally I oppose meddling in general and especially in relation to my life, but in this particular case, I think it worked out in my favor.

I study vision for a living, and by that I mean the science-y part where I sit in a lab and collect and analyze data.  I think it’s cool, but sometimes I wish I was working as a fiber artist or indie yarn dyer or knitting pattern designer or something instead.  I ballroom dance.  I design and make most of my own costumes.  Though since I developed this knitting obsession over the course of the last year or so I’ve done a bit less sewing.  I imagine I’ll get back to it one of these days… I always do.

I get bored easily, so I tend to have a lot of projects going on at once.  This is true both for knitting and for the rest of my life.  It means I’m good at multitasking, but it also means I’m prone to distraction and procrastination.

I love tea, chocolate, wine, drawing, painting, anything fiber-related except crochet which I’ve just never figured out for whatever reason, photography, travel, theatre and old musicals.  That keeps me pretty busy, so I don’t write here as much as I’d like.

I live in San Francisco in a beautiful Victorian flat and I love it.

Kudos if you read this far.  Kudos and chocolate chip cookies if you found it interesting.
